Alexandra & Alec
We’ve known each other for four years and we’ve been sharing love and music for a year now. We’d like to believe it’s gonna last forever… When we met, we both had eight years of performing behing; we’d gathered ideals and dissapointments, songs and memmories to write about.
In the beginning, there was the solo project Alexandra Ivan, with the first single “Beautiful Life”, co-written and produced by Edward Maya, that received some airplay and promotion in Romania.
Then, we came closer to the pop-rock area with the song “Blonde Girl” and put our dreams in this simple name: Alexandra & Alec. We have worked with Romanian producers like Edward Maya, Vali Rotari and NMC – and we are still searching for the perfect sound.
In 2008 we won the third place in the Battle Of Songs competition, with the song “Asculta-ma” and played various gigs in Romanian cities (Bucharest, Iasi, Oradea, Arad) and Versailles, France.
In April 2009 we played an unplugged concert with Romanian popstar Marius Nedelcu (ex-Akcent), Dragoş Leca (bass) şi Rafael Olivera Sanchez (percussion). The show was broadcast on Apropo.ro and watched by 1.000 users. You can see it by clicking here.
In August 2009 we released our first official single, “La cafea” (Coffee Time) and a video for it, directed by Valentin “Bimus” Sturzu. The song received excellent feedback online and gained significant airplay on national radios, for example Pro FM.
From October to December 2009 we played a series of live shows at a romantic bistro in the centre of Bucharest, called Violeta’s Vintage Kitchen.
In December 2009 we released a promotional CD called “Little Dreams”, that includes 11 original songs recorded in our first two years together.
We also collaborated for music and/or lyrics with fellow artists such as Neylini, Mike Thomas, Hotel FM (finalists for the Romanian Eurovision Selection 2010) and Aniela Rotari.
We are currently working on our long-awaited debut album and an LP of musical sonnets with Florian Chelu Madeva (Rock Filarmonica Oradea) to the lyrics of Veronica Franco, a Renaissance poet.
Alexandra & Alec means inspiration, professionalism, commitement. We fermly refuse lipsynching (shamefully popular in Romania), performing covers and making compromises in our music. 100% live means 100% magic.
